How to Practice English Writing

I practiced my English writing a couple of different ways these years. I started writing a novel about super-intelligent pigs, did writing exercises, read textbooks… This year, I took a different approach, my method was to first read a news/magazine article, and then write my own version, describing the same things. After that, I would compare my article with the original and take notes, the cycle repeats. First, I need to find some articles, I found many sources, including National Geographic, New York Times, Washington Post, you get the point. This is the first time I actually read news and stuff, so that’s pretty cool.

Grammar time!

As I’m doing this, I’m also improving my grammar using grammar textbooks and exercises. Because I think this writing project and learning grammar complement each other. And whenever I find a word I don’t know when I’m reading the articles, I add it to a collection that I can review later. This project really did help my writing, and I discovered the best way to practice is just to write more!
