Mars Project

We (Nicolas, Cassie, and I) call it the “Mars Project”, but in reality, it has nothing to do with mars.
This is the first of many projects, with the end goal of making a video game. To make a video game, one must first learn to make a video game… And to learn to make a video game, one must know how to learn to make a video game… That is the goal of the “Mars Project”, not related to Mars at all.
There are many parts to a video game: There’s game design, coding, art, music, etc. And there’s also a lot of ways to learn these things: there are online tutorials, books, videos, and documentation. So our goal is to look through these resources and choose which ones to use and how to use them.

An example

We chose to use Unity as our game engine, and there are A LOT of Unity tutorials. Youtube houses a lot of these tutorials, but they aren’t very structured and we would need to jump between different tutorials. So instead, we learned a bit on the Unity website, then watched some more on Mimo and Pluralsight (even though it’s pretty pricey). And that is only ONE example out of many! We also learned some game-making-vocabulary that we would use later on to make communication easier. This project was a relatively short one compared to the one coming up – the Venus project, but it’s one of the most important ones.

Hi, my name is Felix I'm 14 and I learn autonomously instead of at school. I learned through many projects and I want to share them with you. I did some of these projects by myself but I also did a lot with my friends from different countries!
